A combination of hydrostatic pressure and concrete cracking resulted in the presentation of ground water within the egress tunnel of the CityLink tunnel at Burnley.
A number of transverse reinforcing bars were epoxy grouted in to chases cut in the floor of the egress tunnel. The problem of water seepage in to the tunnel was rectified with the injection of a hydrophilic polyurethane grout.
