Tatura Water Tower Rehabilitation

The Challenge

The reinforced concrete tower, designed and built by the esteemed engineer, Sir John Monash in 1912, had for a number of years shown signs of the effects of concrete carbonation and general weathering.

To enable the tower to remain in service as an important part of the water supply infrastructure of the area, tenders were called to carry out remedial works to the tower.

The Solution

Vertitech Australia were awarded the contract to undertake extensive concrete and render repair works, replacement of windows, etc to the tower and the application of a decorative anti carbonation coating.

The continued supply of water to the region is assured with completion of the rehabilitation works, together with the retaining of one of the diminishing number of structures designed and built by arguably Victoria’s most famous engineer.
